TWO teenage girls on a walk in the sunshine suddenly found themselves stranded when fog rushed in from the sea.

Sea mist and fog clouded Southend on Friday evening and the two girls, who had originally gone walking on mudflats off Bell Wharf in Leigh, then needed help from the RNLI on Friday just before 6pm.

The volunteer hovercraft began searching and was joined by the Atlantic 75 lifeboat and inshore lifeboat as it began to get dark.

The clever girls reappeared at Bell Wharf after following the flood tide back to shore and finding their original footprints to guide them back safely.
