THE Highways Agency was forced to close two lanes on the QEII Bridge for a broken down car.
The road was cleared shortly after 2pm, when all lanes reopened.
But long delays - with queues back to J29 for the A127 - remain.
The vehicle was reportedly stranded in the carriageway before being rescued.
Motorists have already been warned to expect a weekend of delays at the crossing as free-flow tolling - a remote payment system which will mean people no longer pay cash at the crossing's toll booths any more - is being introduced on Sunday morning.
It comes as traffic around intu Lakeside is reportedly a little heavier than usual as shoppers seek to snap up Black Friday bargains at the shopping centre.
