A DAD is reaching out to contact his long lost daughter 27 years after she was born.

Simon Mayne, 54, is searching for his daughter after a message on Facebook caught his attention.

Following a brief relationship with a woman called Susan in Southend in 1988, Mr Mayne believed the couple may have conceived a child.

The couple lost touch and Mr Mayne, who now lives in Colchester, is eager to find his daughter.

Mr Mayne, of Cambridge Road, Colchester, said: “I had a message come up on Facebook and this girl had all the dates and mentioned the name of the lady who is her mother.

“I was seeing this lady about 27 years ago, but I lost the message on Facebook and I can’t get it back.”

A chance meeting a few years after the break-up saw Mr Mayne see “his daughter”

briefly.

He said: “I had an inkling I may have a child.

“I saw Susan a couple of years after we split up and she had a little girl in a pushchair and it did make me think.

“It was definitely a possibility.

“I first met Susan about 29 years ago, we were only together for a couple of weeks and just lost touch when we broke up.

“We lost touch really, I was quite hurt by some of the things that happened after the breakup.

“Susan lived on the Kursaal estate at the time and then in a flat in Queensway.

“She had a friend called Linda and they were living together about 27 years ago.”

Mr Mayne, who is not married and has no other children, is keen to make contact with his daughter.

He said: “It would be nice if she sees this and she gets in touch with me again.

“I was very shocked when I first saw the message and I can’t believe I can’t find it now.

“I’m nervous and excited to meet her.

“I’m hoping we can be reunited, she has ten nieces and nephews to meet.

“I’ve told my mum and my partner, they are both very supportive, although mum was a bit shocked at first.

“I want to know what she is like, who does she look like, is there any family resemblance?

“If she is reading this, then please get in touch.”
