AN ACTRESS from Leigh is set to ruffle some feathers after landing a new role in the popular soap Hollyoaks.

Kierston Wareing has moved on from Eastenders and landed a feisty role in the Channel 4 soap.

The 38-year-old will make her first appearance in the show later this month as venomous vixen, Ashley Davidson.

She formerly played Kirsty Branning in Eastenders and has previously starred in British films, such as the acclaimed Fish Tank in 2009.

On her new role, she said: “I would describe Ashley as a control freak. I don't believe she has a nice bone in her body, but I'm enjoying every minute of playing her.

“I’m also thoroughly enjoying working with GregWood, Jorgie Porter and Charlie Wernham, among others. Their characters are just a few who get manipulated by Ashley in some way or another, so stayed tuned to see if she gets want she wants!”

Ashley has already been mentioned on screen by Sgt Ben Bradley (Ben Richards) and Trevor Royle (Greg Wood) in connection with the death of Ben’s daughter, Carly.

She will surprise her old acquaintance, Trevor when she pays a visit to The Loft and demands the money she lost when Carly stole a very expensive ring of hers.

The actress has an impressive film career so far and has been nominated for one Bafta and three British Independent Film Awards.

She has had roles in the films such as Ken Loach’s It’s a Free World, as Angie. She also featured in Andrea Arnold’s Fish Tank (2009) and Martina Cole’s The Take.

Prior to her new Hollyoaks role, she played the Heather in Channel 4’s Top Boy
