A SEVEN-year-old has raised more than £1,000 be shaving his hair off for charity.

Kind-hearted Bobby Spall, of Benfleet, had his thick mop of hair shaved off on Saturday.

Supported by Riley’s Snooker Club in his home town, Bobby, who attends Kent’s Hill Primary School, and his family organised a family fun day to raise vital funds for MacMillan.

By the end of the day more £1000 had been raised, with pledges of further money to come in.

Bobby was inspired after seeing about the MacMillan’s Brave the Shave campaign, which aims to raise awareness of people with cancer losing their hair and raise money to help support those who have received the diagnosis.

His father, Paul said: "What Bobby has done is a truly fantastic effort.

"At the time of having his head shaved, I doubt there were any other parents in the world who felt as proud as Sarah, my wife, and I were.

"We cannot thank Riley’s, Benfleet, enough for the effort they put in to Bobby’s event.

"Everyone got behind him and they put on a great afternoon for us."
