POLICE have cordoned off an area of Southend High Street while they investigate an assault after a man was assaulted by four men last night.

The victim, a man in his 30s was assaulted after being approached by four men during an incident in the High Street.

He sustained several injuries, none of which are believed to be life-threatening.

Police have arrested one person on suspicion of assault and criminal damage. Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

The area near McDonalds in the High Street has been cordoned off whilst the investigation continues.
