POLICE have cordoned off an area of Southend High Street while they investigate an assault after a man was assaulted by four men last night.
The victim, a man in his 30s was assaulted after being approached by four men during an incident in the High Street.
He sustained several injuries, none of which are believed to be life-threatening.
Police have arrested one person on suspicion of assault and criminal damage. Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
A police spokesman said: “Anyone with information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to the incident is encouraged to contact Essex Police, quoting crime reference number 42/248333/22.
“You can submit a report through essex.police.uk or use the live chat service available Monday to Friday, between 10am and 9pm.
“Alternatively you can call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on their website or by calling 0800 555 111, In an emergency, always call 999.”
The area near McDonalds in the High Street has been cordoned off whilst the investigation continues.
