HERD In The City is set to be an artistic exploration of rollicking artwork depicted on dozens of elephant sculptures this summer.
The colourful crew will be dotted around the city from the middle of July to September, including Shoeburyness and Leigh, as part of the Herd In The City event.
The free art trail elephant sculptures will be created by artists, schools and young people, turning Southend into an outdoor art gallery.
Created by Havens Hospices and Wild in Art, in partnership with Southend-on-Sea City Council, the Echo are proud supporters of Herd in the City and the incredible cause at the root of it all, raising money for Havens Hospices.
For those who would like to enjoy the artwork now,there is a Rock ‘n’ Glow elephant at Southend Pier who is making a guest appearance at LuminoCity.
The elephant, designed and decorated by artist Neil Fendell, depicts an evening scene on Southend’s seafront and will be on show in the pier’s entrance throughoutthe February half term.
Rock ‘n’ Glow is one of over 45 large elephant sculptures that will be part of the summer event.
Rachel Hawksworth, project manager for Havens Hospices, said: “We are very excited to see Rock ‘n’ Glow out and about, giving everyone a taste of things to come this summer.
“Herd In The City will offer everyone a great day out, exploring parts of the city they may not have visited before, and raise thousands of pounds for the free, specialist hospice care Havens Hospices provides for local adults, children, and their families.”
