POLICE have appealed to the public for information after a BMW driver failed to stop when pursued by officers in Basildon last Wednesday afternoon.

The BMW 5 Series was followed by Essex Police at about 1.45pm, with officers signalling to the driver to stop in Luncies Road.

Police say the car, which had a registration plate starting with a K, was driven through Linford Road, Kirby Road, Sandon Road, High Road and Chestnut Road.

When officers eventually recovered the car, nobody was inside, but police said in a statement they believe the driver was a black man wearing a yellow high visibility vest.

The BMW will now be forensically searched, but police are also hoping members of the public cam come forward to help the investigation.
