THE victim of an attempted murder initially lied to police officers about the events that saw him shot in a Shoebury Car Park, a court has heard.

A trial continued in Basildon Crown Court centred on 22-year-old Adam Valli who allegedly shot the 26-year-old victim in the leg.

Valli is accused of shooting the victim with a Tokarev pistol in a car park in Frobisher Way, Shoebury, following an argument at around 2am on May 14 last year.

Witnesses continued giving evidence on Wednesday, January 31, with PC Jack Kerry taking the stand.

He said: “I went with PC Farrow to Royal London Hospital and was ordered to wait there with the victim who I was told had been shot in the leg.

“We arrived at approximately 7.30am and there was a brief handover from officers as I was told the victim was going to have two surgeries.

“Right towards the beginning myself and PC Farrow introduced ourselves, during the course of our conversation he admitted the account he gave earlier to officers was not quite the truth.”

This account refers to the victim’s first encounter with police shortly after the shooting where he told officers a ‘random group of men approached and shot him’.

The jury previously heard Valli and the victim were part of a large group who attended a charity boxing event at the Troxy Nightclub, east London, on May 14.

Valli was friends with the victim for eight years and drove him to the venue in a hired Mercedes on May 13, with the two staying until shortly after midnight.

An argument ensued about a lift home and the court heard Valli told the victim there wasn’t room in the car as he was speaking to two girls outside the nightclub.

The victim’s brothers picked him up and they drove to Beckton encountering Valli’s group with the victim greeting others except Valli.

Valli allegedly told the victim he wanted to ‘finish the argument’ in a phone call with the two groups meeting in cars on the A127, as the victim entered Valli’s car, with Valli speeding off.

It is said that Valli, of Derifall Close, London, pulled up in the Shoebury car park, shot the victim in the leg and sped off.

PC Kerry added: “Following his earlier admission, the victim provided the name of Adam Valli as the shooter at 4.55pm.”

The trial continues.
