A POPULAR Leigh restaurant has announced it will close for two weeks as bosses carry out a major revamp that will include a new bar, menu and additional cocktails.

Franks, in Leigh Broadway, will shut from May 6 to undergo a major refurbishment and is confident that customers will love the planned upgrades when it re-opens for business on May 20.

The restaurant has been a mainstay of the Broadway since 2021, when it opened in the former site of Bar Rio after a £350,000 refurbishment.

Leigh Lib Dem councillor, Carole Mulroney [pictured inset], has expressed excitement for the owners and is confident that the two-week closure won’t harm the business at all.

She said: “Any business that goes for a major refurbishment must weigh up the consequences and I am sure that they have done that and will succeed.

“If they have taken all the necessary preparations, all can say is that they are an important part of the Broadway, and I am excited to see what they offer.”

The restaurant is already taking bookings for when it re-opens.

Announcing the news on social media, a spokesman for Franks said: “After nearly three incredible years, Franks is gearing up for a fabulous makeover.

“It’s time to sprinkle some extra love behind closed doors and give our beloved venue a fresh, vibrant look for an unforgettable summer and beyond.

“We’ll be closing our doors for a short two-week hiatus from May 6 to May 20, but fear not.

“We’ll be back with a bang for our legendary taco Tuesday and getting ready for a revamped dining experience, a spruced-up bar area, and who knows, maybe even a splash of new colour.

“Don’t worry, our signature dishes will still be front and centre on our ‘not so cuisine driven’ menu.

“But until the big reveal, it’s business as usual.

“Swing by for your Franks fix and join us on this exciting journey.”
