A WOMAN has been trapped in her car after a two-vehicle crash in Southend.

Another person, a man in his fifties, has suffered minor injuries after the accident in Eastern Avenue, outside the Saxon King pub, at about 1.15pm today.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "We had reports of one woman, believed to be in her sixties, trapped in a vehicle.

"We had a second patient, a man believed to be in his fifties.

"It appears both suffered minor injuries to the face at this stage."

Two Southend fire crews were called at 1.16pm and are still on the scene.

A fire service spokesman said: "The casualty has been released from her vehicle and left in the care of the Ambulance Service."

Both patients have been taken to Southend University Hospital.

The A1159 Priory Crescent is blocked in both directions just after Manners Way (Cuckoo Corner) and Police are directing traffic.

Traffic is slow moving on all approaches.
