CANVEY Community Archive members celebrated the completion of the seawall mural on Canvey – with some help from Dutch visitors.
Historians from a museum dedicated to the 1953 floods in the Netherlands visited Canvey at the beginning of the month.
Lianne van den Beemt and Nellie Verton were invited for the seawall ceremony.
Janet Penn, from the Community Archive, said: “We’re hoping to build stronger links with the museum. They seemed to have a really good time.
“It was great having them here as they lost so many lives during the 1953 floods.”
Altogether, 1,836 people lost their lives during the 1953 floods in the Netherlands and the Dutch Flood Museum is dedicated to the victims and history of the disaster.
