DIVISION ONE: Wickford gave their hopes of avoiding relegation from SNEL Division One a shot in the arm last week with a thumping win over drop zone rivals Woodford Wells.
The 179-run thrashing of Wells pushed Andy Baker’s team up to eighth while dragging their vanquished rivals into the bottom two.
But Wickford face a stern examination tomorrow in their bid to put further daylight between them an the relegation places. They head to Colchester & East Essex to face divisional leaders who have only been beaten twice in 12 matches.
At the other end of the table, Hadleigh & Thundersley wel-come second-placed Buckhurst Hill to John Burrows Rec.
Hadleigh are currently fourth in the table but know 20 points for a win would substantially reduce the current 31-point gap between the teams.
Adam Soilleux’s team lost by just 13 runs to Hainault & Clayhall last Saturday and Southend & EMT head to Hainault tomorrow looking to open a gap on their hosts.
The sixth-placed Seasiders are currently a place and three points ahead of Hainault and will be looking to recover from their five-wicket defeat to third-placed Hutton last week.
