HOLLAND Park ABC will make club history on Saturday when it holds its first show.

More than 20 bouts are scheduled to take place at Hassenbrook Academy with 15 boxers from the Basildon club due to get in the ring.

Head coach Richard Adams said: "Everyone at the club has pulled together to put on the show and it's great for Holland Park.

"We will have a mix of junior, seniors and elite boys, which is the highest you can get as an amateur.

"As a new club it's also a great chance for us to raise some money as we are funding ourselves at the moment and having money is important to move the club forward."

Holland Park seniors Davis Pagan, Tey Lynn-Jones and Sam Malone are due to fight and the card features pugilists from Brighton, West Ham, Surrey and Kent.

Hornchurch, Essex University and Colchester ABCs will be represented as well as south Essex clubs, including Billericay and Vange & Pitsea.

Holland Park was set up this year and is based in Burnt Mills, Basildon.

Club chiefs are hoping the show will raise cash to help send a team to Portugal in Decembers and contribute towards sending Lunn-Jones to a box cup event in Sweden this month.

"Having a healthy bank balance important because it can help to get the boys out there competing and cover some of their expenses," added Adams.

"We were recently invited by Robert McCracken to take five lads up for sparring at the GB boxing gym in Sheffield.

"It was a great experience for them but the costs still had to be covered."

The show is at Hassenbrook Academy, in Hassenbrook Road, Stanford le Hope, tomorrow.

Doors open at midday and boxing is due to start at 1pm on Saturday. Tickets are available on the door priced at £10 for adults and £5 for children under 14.
