BLUES boss Phil Brown felt his side’s third successive league win should have been far more convincing.

The Shrimpers were on top for long periods during their 2-1 triumph at Tranmere Rovers.

But that was not reflected in the final score-line and that frustrated Brown.

“I’m delighted with the win but we should have got more goals and made it comfortable for ourselves” said Brown.

“We were comfortable and I would much rather be sat here with us having scored three or four goals.

“But our front four caused them problems and that’s a good sign.

“If we can get things right at the attacking end then we’ve got a great chance of doing something this season.”

That is due to Blues’ fine defensive record, which is the third best in the division.

And Brown again chose to go with the same back four against Tranmere, despite both Jakub Sokolik and Jerome Binnom-Williams being available again after serving one match suspensions.

“I think whenever anyone has come in to the team in defence and has got a clean sheet then there have stayed in the side, unless there has been injuries or suspensions so that’s what I did again here,” said Brown, whose side had beaten Hartlepool United 1-0 in their previous outing.

“It doesn’t matter if John White and Adam Thompson are out of position, there’s that mentality in place.

“Keep clean sheets and you’ll keep your place but we didn’t here so maybe things might change.

“I don’t know just yet. “
