PHIL Brown insists his 100th game in charge of Southend United will be one of his biggest when promotion rivals Wycombe Wanderers visit Roots Hall tomorrow.

The sixth placed Shrimpers are currently five points behind the Chairboys who occupy the final automatic promotion position in third.

And Brown is therefore desperate to celebrate the landmark in style.

“It's a massive game for both clubs and a great one to bring up 100 games in charge of Southend United,” said the Blues boss.

“I'm proud to have been manager of the football club for that amount of matches and this is certainly one of the biggest I've had here.

“I don't look at us having slipped to sixth, I'm looking at us being joint fourth with Wycombe just above us so it would be fantastic to pick up the points.”

Victory would move the Shrimpers to within two points of the visitors.

And Brown is also desperate to get revenge on the Chairboys having been beaten 4-1 at their Adams Park base in December.

“I was so disappointed by that game and the manner of the defeat that I was almost physically ill after it,” said the Blues boss.

“The way we played was most unlike us and it really did get to me.

“It was a very bad day at the office, Jerome Binnom-Williams was sent off and I was so frustrated because we had a great away following there.

“I want to get those supporters smiling and hopefully we can tomorrow.”

However, Wycombe will provide a stern test having won more away games in League Two than any other team.

The Chairboys have lost just one of their 17 games on the road.

And Brown is full of praise for their manager Gareth Ainsworth.

“Gareth has done a great job in charge there.” said Brown.

“They stayed up on the final day of last season and since then he's put together a very tasty squad.

“They really have been fabulous but we've got to put a stop to that in what I think is going to be a great game because both teams try to play the right way and are full of confidence too.
