BOWERS & Pitsea made it 20 matches unbeaten as they crushed Eton Manor 5-0 at the Len Salmon Stadium.

In a run that stretches back more than five months, to November 8, Bowers have torn up trees in their outside bid for promotion with early-season postponements coming back to haunt them.

But Bowers are giving it their best shot, with five more goals coming after their victory over title favourites Haringey Borough on Thursday.

All the goals came in the second-half, with Rob Small’s men hitting five unreturned strikes including a brace from Ashley Wackers-Kyriacou.

A lacklustre first-half display was forgotten when Vinny Durrant’s corner was headed across goal by Mike Finneran for Wackers-Kyriacou to open the scoring.

The same man doubled the advantage with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area before substitutes Rob Whitnell and Lewis Manor combined for the latter to round the keeper and score with ease.

Durrant got on the score sheet after Manor was denied before Jamie Salmon made it 10 for the season, heading home after Whitnell’s header had hit the crossbar.

Bowers play Newham, Takeley and Ilford in the next five days as their busy end of season schedule continues.

Hullbridge Sports were unable to do Bowers a favour and take points off Haringey, as they were thumped 7-1.

Looking to make it 10 unbeaten, Sports were no match for Borough who were five goals to the good inside the opening 27 minutes.

Braces for Ant McDonald and Darrell Cox, plus a strike from Leroy Griffiths put the hosts in charge.

A fine 35-yard lob made it 6-0 before Sports did pull a goal back through Harry Skinner from the penalty spot.

Griffiths grabbed his second with only the frame of the goal and goalkeeper Bobby Mason keeping the hosts at seven.

Basildon United conceded a last-minute goal to go down 2-1 at FC Romania.

Ben Sartain’s looked to have salvaged a point for Craig Gillam’s side but a goal at the death condemned Bees to back-to-back defeats.

Southend Manor played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Newham.

Manor led 2-0 at the break but a strong fight-back put the visitors back in contention ensuring the teams took a share of the spoils.
