BARRY Corr believes it is only right Southend United are facing Wycombe Wanderers in the League Two play-off final.

The Shrimpers and the Chairboys both ended the season on 84 points, 12 points clear of Stevenage and 13 ahead of Plymouth Argyle who also made the play-offs.

And Corr is therefore pleased both Blues and Wycombe have made it to Wembley.

“I think it’s only right it’s us against Wycombe in the final if I’m honest,” said the Blues striker.

“We both finished on 84 points which is a huge amount and you would’ve won the league with that last season I think.

“The two best teams in the play-offs are playing in the final and I think it should be a good game.”

Wycombe and Southend have both bounced back from the disappointment of missing out on automatic promotion to make the play-off final.

But Corr insists the spirit of Phil Brown’s side should never have been questioned.

“There’s plenty of character in this team,” said the 30-year-old.

“If you said at the start of the season that we would be in the play-offs I think we would have taken that.

“We’ve got through the semi-final against Stevenage now we have a chance to get promotion on Saturday.”

However, standing in the Shrimpers’ way are Wycombe Wanderers who have also enjoyed a fine season.

And Corr knows exactly what to expect.

“We’ve played them twice this season and we watched them twice in the play-offs as well so we know what to expect from them,” said Blues’ top scorer who has hit the back of the net 16 times this term.

“Wycombe have had a great season and they’ve got plenty of strengths but so do we so we’re feeling confident and just want to get out there now.”
