SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is sweating on the fitness of Anthony Wordsworth after the midfielder limped off during last night’s 3-0 win at Crawley Town.

Wordsworth picked up the problem just before half-time and was eventually substituted in the 58th minute at the Broadfield Stadium.

But Brown does not yet know how serious the injury will prove to be.

“The challenge was still in Woody’s legs and he wasn’t able to move around the pitch as comfortably as he was in the first half so we had to take him off,” said the Blues boss.

“It was a heavy blow he took and his muscle was twitching.

“It slowed him down but we will have to see what the next 24 hours bring.”
