WESTCLIFF make the long trip to Guernsey tomorrow looking to secure their first victory of the season.

Westcliff have been beaten in their first five outings of the National Three London & SE campaign.

But they came close to shocking league leaders Tonbridge Juddian last weekend.

And Westcliff’s director of rugby Nick Sigwart is hoping for another impressive performance.

“After the continued improvement last week, the message is the same again this week,” said Sigwart.

“After watching the video of the game we've seen some areas we can improve and we've been working on them in training this week to do just that.

Westcliff have picked up two points in their first five games and are currently second from bottom in the table.

In contrast, Guernsey sit fifth with three wins in five matches.

And Sigwart is expecting another difficult game against them having lost 33-22 there back in March.

“As always we look forward to the trip to Guernsey but they are a very tough side when they are at home as we found out last season,” said Sigwart.

“Last week we spoke about combining the good things we have been doing this season, building on the week before and putting together an 80 minute performance which we did.

“We very nearly caused an upset against the team that is top of the league and we need to keep it going now.”

Westcliff welcome back hooker Ash Whiting this weekend while fly-half Joe Ansell and winger Ross Merrick are also available again.

But back row Kostas Dellas is missing with the shoulder injury he suffered in last Saturday’s narrow defeat to Tonbridge Juddian.
