TODD Bailey wants Dorking to be on the receiving end of a Southend Saxons backlash tomorrow.

Southend suffered a disappointing 37-12 defeat to struggling Redingensians at Warners Bridge last weekend.

And Bailey insists Saxons are keen to make amends in another home clash on Saturday.

“Last week was possibly the most frustrating and worst performance I've been involved in, “said the Rayleigh based prop forward.

“It was more a case of what didn't go wrong out there.

“We missed too many tackles, gave away too many penalties and couldn't keep the ball in hand when we actually had it!

“But I think there is always going to be a backlash after a performance like that.

“The boys also got knocked about in a big session on Tuesday night so hopefully that got rid of all of Saturday’s demons and we’ll be ready to go again.”

Southend slipped to ninth in the National Two South standings after last weekend’s defeat and sit three places higher than Dorking, who are struggling to match what they achieved last season.

The Surrey side finished fourth last time around but Bailey is not too sure what to expect from them this weekend.

“I've never actually played Dorking before as they are relatively new so I don't really know what they will be like to play against,” said the 24-year-old.

“Last year was their first in this league but I was away so I didn’t play them.

“I know the boys beat them away from home last year though so hopefully we can beat them at home this time too.”

Bailey would certainly love that to happen, having been with Southend since the age of 12.

“This is where I first started playing rugby and I’m proud of that fact,” said Bailey.

“I am the only current first team player to have come through the ranks and I try and make sure the boys don't forget that either!”

Southend will be missing top try scorer Iain Meads this weekend but winger Billy Driver could return to the team.

Back row Chris Shields is also pushing for a start after impressing as a second half replacement last weekend.
