THURROCK host Brentwood in an important Essex derby in London One North this weekend.

T’s sit fourth in the table, one place and 11 points below the visitors.

And Thurrock’s director of rugby Dean White is determined to keep his side’s good home form going.

“We have beaten all the top half teams at home this season and we want to continue this run on Saturday,” said White.

“It will be a very tough game against a side that is playing and scoring well.

“We also have a number of injuries at present but we always back ourselves at home.

“In the past this fixture has produced some very tight and exciting games and I don't see any reason why this game will be any different.”

Thurrock head into the game on the back of two successive victories.

And they will exactly what to expect from Brentwood.

“Both teams know each other very well and we know each other’s style of play, players and coaching staff,” said White.

“Myself and a few players have been at both clubs over the years and this adds to the excitement so we are very much looking forward to this game.

“In many ways this week could decide where teams finish up this season.

“Amersham have Tring and we host Brentwood so all top four teams are playing each other.

“If we beat Brentwood then it's still on for us the climb into the top two but if we lose then we are then relying on the other three teams to slip up.”

The importance of the game is likely to result in a bumper crowd.

And White is keen for as many people as possible to attend.

“We are expecting a very large crowd down for this game because both teams are well supported clubs and the atmosphere should be electric,” said White.

“Kick off is at 3pm and we would love the whole of Thurrock to get behind us.”
