l RUNDOWN: Bowers & Pitsea are six unbeaten in league and cup following Tuesday night’s 5-0 drubbing of Romford.

Rob Small’s team have taken to the Ryman North like a duck to water and sit third in the standings following their promotion from the Essex Senior League last season.

However, they face a tricky assignment tomorrow as they visit the side sitting one place and two points better off than them this term.

Bury have had an excellent start to their season with just one defeat so far, at home against AFC Hornchurch.

In fact, no team has lost fewer games in the division than the Suffolk side.

l MANAGER’S VIEW: Bowers & Pitsea boss Rob Small said: “We have to be realistic and not get carried away. We want 45 points and that will confirm our survival in my eyes.

“We were stunning against Romford and I couldn’t fault anything we did, for the first time since we played VCD Athletic on the opening day.

“We have the points which is what matters but there is still work to be done. You still can’t read too much into the table at this point.

“Bury have lost just one game so far and they are well supported so I expect a good crowd.

“It is our toughest test yet but what a great occasion for us to be involved in. We have confidence but so will they and I think they will fancy their chances in the league this season.”
