IT was another great week of tennis at the Essex Junior County Championships.

The Championships have now been held at Thorpe Bay for more than 45 years.

And this summer's event produced a number of high quality matches.

Matches were held from the under eight age group through to under 18s and there was also a very strong field for the women's and men's singles and doubles competitions.

Outstanding performances during the week were recognised by a special award and this year they went to Charlie Harris in the under 14 age group while it was shared by Alice Sharp and Keira Chadwick in the open age group.

Highlights of the week included very competitive matches in the women's singles, won by Alice Sharp, and the men's singles, won by Tom Pudney.

Essex Tennis President, Richard Lehman, also presented a box of Dunlop tennis balls to 'key volunteers' nominated from clubs around the county and in recognition of their work supporting volunteer tennis clubs.
