SOUTHEND United striker Simon Cox is keen to complete a century of career goals as quickly as he can.

Cox has scored in two games in succession for the first time since 2014 to take his tally up to 93.

And the striker is now determined to maintain an impressive strike ratio to take him into triple figures and to also fire the Shrimpers up the League One standings.

“I did notice the other day that I’m up to 93 career goals and obviously I want to make it to 100 and beyond this season,” said Cox.

“My confidence is improving all the time and it’s been good to score in the last two games.

“But what matters the most to me is making sure the team get good results.

“On Saturday against Bristol Rovers we showed good character and team spirit to come back from a goal down to get a point.

“It was a good point in the end, especially after it came after a great win at Sheffield United but we want to keep the run going now.”

Blues’ next outing is against Fleetwood Town at Roots Hall this weekend.

And, after three unsuccessful outings at their own ground so far this term, Cox is desperate for Blues to record their first home win of the season.

“We’re going into the game on a high and want to get that first win under our belts at Roots Hall, “ said the 29-year-old.

“That would set us up nicely for the two tough away games we have coming up.

“But I’m sure Fleetwood are also going to be difficult opposition and we’re going to need a positive performance to beat them.”

Fleetwood have been beaten just once in their first four league of the season and are currently 12th in the table, one point above the Shrimpers.
